我在国内经完成了小学、中学,2006年到美国(USA)的一所中学上11年级(等同于中国高中二年级)。在我到美国之前,常听人说,美国(USA)的中学教育便是玩着没有一切压力的自由自在的学习。他们高中的数、理、化水准便是我国初一的文化程度。美国(USA)学生的实际动手能力强,但是基本知识不如我国学生扎扎实实……不过,美国(USA)的高中学生生活究竟如何?他们在高中时期都学了些什么?又做些什么?关于我国学生来说是非常陌生,也是很抽象的。我非常好奇大洋彼岸的新的学习生活,率直的说,非常向往一种没有压力,非常轻松愉悦的学习方式。

到美国后才发现,实际上美国(USA)的中学教育并不是如我们想象中的玄妙和简单,也不是那么的如诗如画。从一开始接触到一段时间的感知,我感受到和我国的教育方式截然不同,不但体现在中学教育,并且整个教育体制都存在着差别。美国(USA)的教育体制是重视学生社会责任与体能素质的培养。学生每天不仅仅是学习,学校同时计划大量的时间进行身体锻炼(篮球、橄榄、足球、田径、游水、拳击等等)与社会实践等项目,来培养学生的综合能力。因此,会合理的安排时间,全方位有用的发展是美国(USA)教育体制的精髓。美国(USA)的高中不分文史类、理工科,而采用学分制。必修课有数学科目、英语、物理科目、化学、历史等,选修课非常丰富,电讯、交通、工业、农业、水力、建筑、驾驶、商业、古装、食物、环境、经济、法律法规、文秘、英语、家政、航运、维修等领域,但凡学生感兴趣或者有择业需要的内容,都有相应的课程可供选择。可以说,美国(USA)的教育是面向学生,学习的归宿与目标是定位在就业。不仅如此,校领导配套设备亦是环绕课堂教学、服务学生的,学校公共图书馆全天向学生开放,随时随地可查阅、复印、下载材料。

在课堂上,美国(USA)的教育方法更是体现的淋漓尽致。课堂宛然是一个讨论的战场,每一个学生都能提出自己不同的意见,学生们在课堂上和教师进行争论是常有的事。美国(USA)学生自小习惯于在稠人广众下表达自己的观点,越是公开场合,越是侃侃而谈。在课堂上,我们都很擅长表达自己的观点,即就是言之无物或者是说错了也无妨,所以大家上课时无拘无束,课堂气氛十分活跃。这不仅仅是一种表面的活跃,比较教师照本宣科,一人言谈要好得多,这类沟通开发式的教学方式,使学生真正成为了课堂的主人,能够主动地思考,由此辨明事理的多样性。

刚开始的几天,我上课时都是像国内时那样,带着笔记本认真做笔记。之后发觉,教师的讲台上都放有纸和笔,学生可以随意拿去做笔记,感觉十分人性化。

在基础教育方面,相比国内而言相对弱化,不会让每个学生都在填鸭式的反复记忆。不过,他们从十年级或者更早开始就要为学生计划大量如电子计算机网页设计、简易电路板设计、机器人设计与制做、摹拟桥梁建设等科技成份大、能力要求高的课程。绝大多数的美国(USA)高中学生放学后作业不多,在完成学校布置的作业后,每日都会有较充足的时间作自己的事。至于,享受生活、身体锻炼、吃喝玩乐、狂欢派对等,是再平常不过的事情了。这令人想到了我国两千多年前的大思想家孔子所倡议的“礼、乐、射、御、书籍、数”等六艺精通,全方位发展,这亦是当前中国所提议的素养教育值得借鉴的。一些美国(USA)学生很会利用课余时间,做点学习上或者自己感兴趣的事。在这种环境中,人不再是学习的机器,也不再会有厌学的情绪,每个人都在快乐中学习成长,在学习中得到快乐。例如,我的学生Gohn参与做设备人的设计和制作,制作过程中,经常会遇到一些问题,便会求教我这个曾在国内收获初中生物理科目比赛一等奖的高材生。每逢此时,我都会应用自己的物

现如今,许多人都会选择出国留学做为自己迈向成功的理想阶梯,特别是迈向标榜自由世界的美国学习深造。去除对物质文明的渴求,对优越生活的向往,更多的是对一种文化精神的追求,其中包含自由、开放、充满挑戰的、具有创新意识的教育文化的追求。自然,我国的教育文化富有“合与”精神,“君子和而不同”、“求真务实”、“天下兴亡匹夫有责”…这全是我国教育所培养出的崇高的理念。我觉得,怎样在全球化的竞争中,针对自身的特点,发扬优良的传统,同时用来发觉、承认自己的不足,勤奋学习、借鉴他国的成功经验,改变与健全本国教育的体制和文化,真正把教育制成培育人才、培养创新精神、带动國家前进的强劲动力,这将是每个中国人应该直面的问题。如同鲁迅先生曾经说过,培养奇才,首先应具有成长天才的土壤。教育文化的土壤关系到人才资源的强盛,关乎国家的兴衰。
